Soul Drum Loops
The “Big, Round & Bouncy”soul drum loops pack is one of three Beat Shed products using a drum sound inspired by the great producer Willie Mitchell.
His approach to drum recording is one much discussed in drummer/engineer circles. Some talk about the punchy kick, the muffled toms, or the mic placement that takes in the whole kit as a single instrument. But then there’s the snare sound. Oh THAT snare sound…
The Loops
Whilst recording “Since We’ve Been Together“, we started messing around with other grooves and ideas for a soul drum loops pack.
Starting at 85bpm, we improvised some quite laid back grooves, on hi-hats then ride, in that 70’s soul style. Some 6/8 grooves also came to mind so we put those down as well.
Moving up to 102bpm things got a bit funkier with more of a breakbeat feel. There are a few soul drum loops in here that could be used for rock too, and one or two 4-to-the-floor grooves too.

The Formats
As well as the WAV stereo mixes and 24bit multi-tracks, we also produced the soul drum loops in the REX, Apple Loops, and Stylus RMX formats.
These files are variable tempo versions of the stereo mixes. They have been carefully sliced and tested to stretch to the tempo of your project. These 3 formats cover just about any software or workstation you may be using.
