Free Beat Friday #6 – Dancehall Drum Loop

dancehall drum loop

Something a bit LIVELY for Free Beat Friday this month…

…It’s time for a bit of Springtime BUMP & GRIND.

Why a dancehall drum loop?

We recorded this STONKING 106bpm dancehall drum loop back in December. So we can’t really remember! But it must’ve been cold and we fancied something exciting to warm up…

Our new favourite thing! That shaker sound we’ve always been looking for… It’s a wicker basket filled with glass beads, and a coconut dome in the bottom of it.

It makes the most beautiful FULL shaker sound, but you can turn it 90 degrees to make a percussive crunching sound too.

More Cowbell!

There’s also 2 cowbells playing quite different pattern to create a polyrhythmic layer between the ccxixi and the drums.

The Full Monty

This dancehall drum loop was recorded with the full 16 channel setup. So plenty of options if you want to delve into the multi-tracks where you will get each and every channel as a 24bit file.

We used the DW Collectors series kit, with 2 mics on every drum. Hats are a pair of 14″ Zildjian New Beats. All recorded, as always, in accordance with our Recording Ethos.
